1. Rain Protection:
Water causes the greatest damage to your chimney of any of the elements. It soaks into the porous bricks, eats away at the mortar, hastens the destruction of the chimney liner and destroys your chimney crown. A chimney cap does the invaluable job of protecting your chimney from water damage. For maximum chimney protection we recommend a "multi-flue cap". This covers the entire chimney, not just one flue. More chimney damage is caused by the lack of a chimney cap than any other source. Rain not only causes premature deterioration to the chimney interior, but can damage metal fireboxes and dampers too. It can also erode flue tiles and mortar joints, causing them to crumble, leaving dangerous cracks and blockages.

2. Animal protection:
One of the great sources of danger to homeowners is the threat of disease from animal intrusion. Raccoons, squirrels, birds, and rodents all would love to make their home in your chimney. A well-made Chimney Cap will keep animals out of your home forever. Sturdy mesh and a strong lid keep even the most determined critters at bay. Animals see all uncapped chimney as an open invitation to move in –unfortunately, they bring with them a variety of issues. Birds and animals carry rabies and histoplasmosis. Bird droppings combine with rain to create noxious odors. And, once a squirrel or raccoon gets into your chimney, it may also enter your home where it can cause damage to your furnishings. 3. Spark protection:
The mesh screen on a Chimney Cap protects your home from sparks emitted from your chimney. That means less danger of a fire caused by stray sparks from your fireplace or woodstove. A chimney without a proper cap may allow airborne embers to ignite adjacent shingles, leaves, trees or grass.
